The Analysis of Movie “GARUDA DI DADAKU”

Every human must be has a life’s ideals. Similarly with Bayu, who was the main character in this movie. He had a high aspiration. He wanted to be a professional football player.  Although he was still young, Bayu always practiced his skill. He believed that someday his dreams would be come true. In the past, before his father worked as a taxi driver, his father was a football player. Maybe that was why Bayu had a talent to play football as well as his father. Unfortunately his father died, then Bayu  lived with her mother and his grandfather. Bayu often dreamt that he was playing football with his father. But the way that he wanted to realize his dream didn’t run smoothly. He must passed some obstacles to realize his dream. Usman, who’s Bayu’s grandfather, obscured Bayu for playing football. He always said that becoming a football player just make someone lives in poverty. Moreover, he wouldn’t recognize Bayu as her grandson, if Bayu still wanted to be a football player. Bayu’s grandfather was an over protective person to his grandson. He ordered Bayu to follow any course, like Mathematic course, music course, and painting course. He educated Bayu to be a painter because he believed that Bayu had a painting skills.

In a moment, Bayu and his best friend (Heri) went to the stadium for watching a football match, they met Mr. Johan, a coach of football school called Arsenal. Mr. Johan saw that Bayu had a talent in playing football. This was the beginning to create Bayu’s dream. Mr. Johan invited Bayu for joined his football school. Bayu was shocked. He was so confused, whether he accepted the invitation or not. Actually Bayu wanted to join the football school, but he remembered about his grandfather’s rule. His grandfather never allowed him for playing football. But his best friends (Heri) always provoked Bayu to accept the invitation from Mr. Johan, finally Bayu decided to accept it. He became a member of the football school. He always practiced playing football everyday quietly. Heri always helped him to go out from his house with any reason, such as went to the bookstore or did the homework together at Heri’s house. At the end of this movie is Bayu can realized his dreams.  Bayu’s grandfather got a heart attack, then finally his grandfather realized that became a football player was the biggest Bayu’s dreams and it was the best for Bayu. His opinion about football player closed to the poverty was truly wrong.

            The theme of this movie was the enthusiasm of a young boy to realize his dream. This movie “Garuda di Dadaku” could influent Indonesian people’s enthusiasm in football. The audience could feel the patriotic side  at the moment Bayu weared football uniform with the symbol of “Garuda” in his chest, stood in the middle of football yard, and sang a song which one of the lyrics was “Garuda di dadaku, garuda kebanggaanku, ku yakin hari ini pasti menang”.

            The plot of this movie is going forward. This plot made the audience understand the content of this movie easily. Started from Bayu’s life as a student of elementary school. He wanted  to be a national football player, but his grandfather never allowed him. then this movie viewed how he realized his dream which had so many obstacles, but finally his dream came true.

            The setting of this movie is very various. The place setting is :

1.      At the school   : The scene at the moment Bayu and Heri was studying in their elementary school. At the moment Bayu and Heri went to the canteen to buy many food.

2.      Bayu’s house   : The scene at the moment Bayu, his mother, and his grandfather lived together. At the moment Bayu’s mother and her grandfather discuss about the best education for Bayu.

3.      Heri’s house    : The scene which presents Heri’s life with his driver and his servant. Heri felt alone. His father rarely stayed in the house, because Heri’s father was very busy with his business.

4.      The stadium    : The scene at the moment Heri and Bayu went to the stadium for watching a football match,  then they met  Mr. Johan, the coach of a football school, called Arsenal.

5.      The cemetery  : The scene at the moment Bayu had social project from his school and he choosed to keep the cemetery. But actually that was not the main purpose of Bayu’s project. He choosed it because in the cemetery,he could practice playing football every day.

6.      The hospital    : The scene at the moment Bayu’s grandfather got a heart attack and must  stay for a few days in the hospital.

7.      The football school, called Arsenal : The scene at the moment Bayu practiced for playing football quietly. He became one of the student in that football school.

            The time setting is :

1.      In the morning: The scene at the moment Bayu’s grandfather accompanied Bayu to go to the school, and at the moment when Bayu studied in his elementary school.

2.      In the afternoon: The scene at the time when Bayu and Heri were watching a football match in the stadium and met Mr. Johan.

3.      The evening    : The scene at the moment Bayu’s grandfather was angry with Bayu because he watched a football match in the television and at the time when Bayu arrived home after he went out with Heri.

            The atmosphere setting is :

1.      Pleasure time  : the scene at the moment Bayu accepted to be one of the member of football school called Arsenal and at the time when Bayu was accepted to be a member of Indonesian team U-13.

2.      Sadness           : the scene at the moment Bayu  remembered to his father, he had been dreaming that he was playing football with his father. At the time when  Heri felt alone, because his father delayed to go home from going abroad. His father rather choosed the business better than went home to meet  his son,Heri whereas Heri missed  his father so much.

3.      Tension           : The scene in the moment Bayu and Heri entered in to Zahra’s house quietly, then suddenly Zahra appeared and at the time when Bayu’s grandfather got a heart attack because he saw Bayu playing football.

4.      Touching people’s emotion: The scene at the moment when Bayu’s grandfather realized then he would not obscured hia grandson for playing football . The moment when Bayu was wearing th football uniform with “garuda” symbol in his chest, he was standing in the middle of football field singing a song which one of the lyric was “Garuda di dadaku, garuda kebanggaanku, ku yakin hari ini pasti menang”.

            This movie is very good to be watched. This movie views many people problem, such as the difference opinion between parent and their child. In our society, this problem happen frequently. Usually, the parents force their desire their child, eventhough sometimes it is not the same as their child wish. Beside that, this movie also views the Indonesian football condition. In this country, its football condition was so bad. In Indonesia, football was related to fight.  Many people died when they were watching the football match. The fanatic supporter couldn’t accept if their favorite team was defeat. This is one of the reasons why Bayu’s grandfather never allowed Bayu became a football player.

This movie is very educative. This movie views present how parents educate their child, about friendship, how to be a good friend, and other. This movie present how a young boy realize his dream which had so many obstacles. This movie also showed friendship value between Bayu and Heri. Although Heri is a boy with physical defect,he can’t walk, but he can be Bayu’s best friend. Heri was faithfull and he has a role as Bayu’s supporter and Byu’s manager. Their friendship went smoothly. Heri always helped and supported Bayu to realize her dream.

This movie has some messages for our government for example : when bayu and his friend meet a difficulty to find football yard for practicing  football. How could Indonesian football evolve if it’s hard to find the football yard for practicing football? It’s so bad. The government must pay attention with the football development, like the football yard. In this era, we know that every where we can find a building. In the past, many lands are football yard but now it changed into a modern build. Such as a mall, apartement, and business center. Actually, many football center was build in many place, but player must pay some money to enter and play football in there. We know that low society can’t pay much money to enter it. So, the child have good talent and from low society can’t practice play football in there.

From this movie we can get many lessons. If we have problems, we must solve it. Don’t run off! If you run off from the problems, it’s mean that you get many new problems. If you have a life’s ideals, you must believe that you can realize it. Don’t be hopeless. Try and pray, actually you can realize it. Besides that, we can get lesson about parents always give all the best for their child. But, all of that is not same with child hope. So, more be better if parents discuss with their child about their education or what child want to choose for improve their talent.

The language that used in this movie is easy for understand, because this movie used daily language.

            The scene of this movie set as well. Audience can follow what happen with the main character. But a scene that show a father was protest because his son didn’t received in the football national Team isn’t relevant with the story.
